Hello. Just a quick question concerning the optimum size of a thumbnail. I know for internet speed reasons the size of a picture(jpg) should be no larger than 640 pixels along the longest edge... But what is the best size for a thumbnail. I think it is 320 pixels. I am just about to start designing my portfolio website. Thank you |

In general, images should be cropped to the size that they will appear on the website. Images in a lazy loading slideshow are kind of different since they don't have to load with the rest of the content so can be much larger. An image gallery like THIS Example needs to have fairly large image files for the large images to preserve quality when a visitor uses the fullscreen or zoom in options. To overcome any delay in the slideshow, it can be set to preload the previous and next images. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Hello Roddy, Thank you for your comment. I will not be using an image with that much detail as your example. Too many pictures, not enough space. What resolution would you suggest for pictures and thumbnails? My website is a portfolio site so to stop thieves stealing my pictures i will only be using low resolution pictures Thank you |

If you are going to insert an image at say 320px x 240px on the page then that's the size you should crop it to before importing it into EverWeb. I use EasyCrop for preparing images. Once you have used it, you'll wonder how your ever managed without it! ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Thank you Roddy, After a lot of research and talking to your kind self i have found that there is not standard size. i will be using for my thumbnail 320x320 and for my main picture 640x640. This will provide me with good images and website speed. I do not want to sell wallpapers or high resolution pictures, but i want to stop people stealing my images. Thanks |
