Trisite and SEO

User: Joss D. 7 years ago
I am using Trisite on my new sites, my question is do you allow all of the Computer- Tablet - and Phone version to be crawled?
Or do you allow only Computer version to be crawled and put no-index on Tablet and Phone version?
I used the allow to crawl all but all the site pages came up in triplicate.
I have now changed to only crawl Computer Pages.
Which is preferable does anyone have experience with this?
Any help would be appreciated >Thanks

Assuming that all three versions of the site have the same pages and content, only one version needs to be indexed. I would paste the no-index meta tag into the Site Wide Head Code box of the tablet and phone versions.

<meta name="robots" content="noindex">

It is an interesting question if you take a common scenario where a full site and a phone site are created and the phone version has fewer pages than the Full Version.

If a visitor using a smart phone finds a Google entry for a page that only exists on the full site they are going to get the full site version of the page which is not good. The way around this would be to add a redirect on the page in the full site to another page of the mobile site with equivalent content.

I would be inclined to test this out by publishing a site and then, once it has been indexed, try the full site URL in the Google https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/ to see what comes up.
