Albums are a good solution for artists, photographers and those who have a large range of products to display. An album is a single image or CTA button link which opens a lightbox slideshow containing several images or videos. A gallery is an image grid or list or hyperlink tabs which open a lightbox slideshow at a particular image or video. I started to create a widget pack for albums and galleries a while back but had to wait for the widget API to be updated to create the albums and got side tracked with other widgets. I spent some time yesterday with a plugin which has an amazing range of options and slideshow transitions. I created an album widget which can be seen in this demo. One of the unique features of this plugin is that it allows the addition of a "download" link. Note that the link does not have to download the image but can also be used to link to another page or website or even launch an email for visitors to inquire about a particaular item. The large image in a lightbox slideshow is itself a link so it stands to reason that it can't also be a link to another page or file. In the above mentioned demo I have included such things as a link to another website and a link to open an email with the image title as the subject line. Other slides demonstarte how the download link works for images. The image is opened in a new window to allow right click download. The demo pages also include some galleries and a responsive collage.
