Project won't open?

User: Ben L. 8 years ago
I've got three websites in my EverWeb projects window. Two of them open fine. A slightly older one, done in the previous version of EverWeb (a recent previous version), won't open.

I can Show On Disk ... and the file is there. I look at contents, contents are there. But it won't open in the app. When I look for backups, the backups window is empty.

The site is up and running just fine. But I need to work on it now ...

Any suggestions? Is there some kind of .plist file I can delete?

All ears,

Ben

Is there a message associated with not opening, or just nothing happens? Spinning wheel at all?
With the Backups, when you show on disk, is the Backup folder there? (mine is in the same place). Is there nothing in that folder?

I have never had this issue, but with each update I open each site and Publish Entire Site, just to be safe.

Hi Jim,

Nothing. It doesn't open. No spinning balls. There are no backups in the backup window. (And in future you can be sure I'm going to publish the site also on a drive).

After the update that was my plan, open the project and rePublish the entire site. But that particular project won't open. I see the project icon in the project window. The other two projects/sites are there and work fine. The file contents of the project/site that won't open are there on the drive, and all the files IN the project seem to be there. But EverWeb won't open the project. There is no backup for that project.

The website up on the net is fine. I couldn't find any .plist file for EverWeb (to delete).

Any other thoughts? This happened after I did an upgrade for support, and supposedly an update of the app simultaneously.

I'm wondering if one could back engineer the project from the website files themselves?

Apologies above. Have no idea how the replications happened. And can't seem to find anywhere where I can delete the copies.

Check out this thread, it may help.
Or contact support, they are usually pretty quick to respond.

I believe the repeats come from refreshing the page before leaving the page.

In the Projects Window, click the up/down arrrows to the right of the project file name then select "Show On Disk" from the contextual menu.
Now drag the highlighted project file and drop it onto the application icon.

If that doesn't work, choose to "Send Project File to Support" from the same menu and open a trouble ticket giving as much detail as possible and the URL of this topic.

Do you see it listed under the Window menu? If so it could just be off screen because it was opened while another monitor was attached to your computer. Select the project from the window menu and then select Zoom from the Window menu as well.

Hey Paul, thanks.
My site also wouldn't open. I thought I had a major problem; I've been working on it all day. When I seen your post suggesting the site could be 'off screen,' I zoomed it like you said and presto, there it was. Duuhhh... Thanks buddy.
