How do I create a fully responsive website using EverWeb???

User: Simon H. 8 years ago
I know how to create a website optimized for mobile with the mobile template offered in later versions of EverWeb but I am now wishing to create 1 Website that is fully responsive across all devices, both mobile and tablet models.

Is this possible to accomplish in EverWeb or not at this point in time?
Do I have to use 3rd party apps to get this done??

I would appreciate any recommendations or advice from Admin, Moderators or members on how to solve this common issue!

Thank you all in advance!

Don't fool yourself.

The only difference (optimized as you call it) between the desktop templates and the mobile template is the width of the page.

Eveything else is the same.

But first, do some homework :

http://www.google.com/search?q=what+is+a+responsive+website

http://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+create+a+responsive+website

And if you did do your homework, you wouldn't have asked the question.

Here's a sample responsive website you can start with :

http://www.cheesetoast.co.uk/responsive-web-design-3-column-layout/

Tools?

Open a texteditor and start typing.

And if that's too easy :

Up until recently, it wasn't possible to create a responsive web design with EverWeb since it uses a fixed content width. The introduction of the new "Full Width" control by the developers has open up new possibilities to make the seemingly impossible a reality.

Responsive design is not the answer for everyone. In most case the TOUCH widgets area better bet for creating versions of the site for computer, tablet and smart phone. See the TRISITE demo for more info about this.

Responsive design is now possible with EverWeb. A few days ago, the universe sent a thunderbolt to shake me out of my complacency and figure out a way to make it happen. The result of that was the FLEX system and its widgets.

Although still under development, the demo shows the system's capability. While it does help to have a basic knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3, it is not essential. My tester for "user friendliness" of widgets is only nine years old and she didn't take too long at all to get the hang of it.

@ Jumbo T.
I am aware of the fact that page width is NOT truly optimising a website for Mobile but it does help and is the only real option within EverWeb to my knowledge. I have researched "Responsive web design" on the web but was merely asking whether this was possible within EverWeb alone.

I will further research the links you provided and appreciate your response, but please do NOT assume that I am fooling myself or that I have NOT done my homework! This forum should be for EverWeb users both experienced and inexperienced and I feel that your 'tone' may scare others from asking questions to this forum... just a thought ;-)

Cheers!

Roddy... you are simply GENIUS!

I am going to buy your TOUCH widgets now and as a previous buyer of your other widgets I can honestly say that I am thoroughly impressed by the variety of add on widgets you have designed for EverWeb.

When will the FLEX widgets be available cause I want them too!

Keep up the phenomenal work mate!

PS. I got the COUNTDOWN timer to work in the new beta version 1.9 of everweb too ;-)

Cheers!

I suppose the Flex widgets could be released anytime but I would rather wait until the "Senior Developer" has had a chance to try them out and see if there is a better way to make the header reduce in height on touch devices.

I also have quite a few more widgets to make for Vimeo, YouTube, Sliders, Gallery etc.
