Screwed Again

After your last fiasco with 8.1 or whatever, I went back to 1.7.5.

Thinking that by now you would have fixed the bugs so I upgraded to 1.8.2.

What a big mistake. You still haven't fixed the the opacity issue with the text boxes where the letters are supposed to be full opacity and the background is adjustable. Not so. The letters opacity adjust right along with the background. It looks ok in EverWeb but when published the letter's opacity change right along with the background.

So, I decided once again to return to 1.7.5 but guess what happened. Fatal error!!

So now I'm screwed, once again, for I have about one hundred labels over pictures that are supposed to have full white letters and 50% opacity backgrounds but instead have 50% opacity letters and backgrounds.

In addition, now every time I try and move or resize a text box or anything else I get a spinning beach ball for a few seconds. That is enough to make me want to through the whole program at you. How am I supposed to work with the beach ball spinning even if I attempt to scroll the page??

And I can't go back to 1.7.5. I am so screwed.

Thanks, Oliver

Which fiasco are you referring to?

I don't understand what you are referring to here. Are you saying you adjusted the opacity of the text but the background color also adjusts?

Did you submit this error to us?

You're not screwed. Just please show me an example of what is happening and we can fix it.

Have you tried quitting and restarting EverWeb?

Does this happen with all objects or specific ones?

Ok, so I updated from 1.7.5 to 2.1.1 with the hopes of it fixing some problems with https, and as I posted elsewhere, it did.

But, you still haven't fixed the above problem

I'll state it here again: When I set the opacity of the background in a text box with background color it also changes the opacity of the text. 1.7.5 left the text opacity unchanged, as it should.

As stated one year ago, I have hundreds of text boxes with 50% opacity of the background color and full white text. If I publish the whole web site then all of my text in boxes with colored background and reduced opacity gets grayed out.

So far the only work-around is to remove the text from every box and create a new text box to overlay the background colored box, a huge amount of work.

Or, you can fix the problem.

A new problem has cropped up. When I need to publish the page title turns red, as it always has. But once I publish the changes the title in the left hand column remains red. Closing the site and reopening it does not solve the problem.

Edit update: Also noticed that the publishing was not updating my site. (initial site is on my computer for checking then FTP upload after everything looks good).

Suspected permissions and noticed that I no longer had permission to the publish document folder. For some reason the folder lost write permissions in the last two hours all by itself. I hate Mac OS permission crap. It has caused me lots of grief over time.

Anyways, the publish problem (only) has been fixed on my end, but the opacity problem remains as I slowly update all of my text boxes with colored backgrounds as I update and republish old pages..

Hi Oliver,

Sorry to hear you are still having issues. I have pushed this issue up higher in our to do list to be addressed. I believe I may have looked it a while and it may have been a larger than expected issue to fix but I think I have an idea and will research some more soon.

Sorry again for the inconvenience.
